Protecting young ears

One of the most critical aspects of these headphones is their focus on safe listening. Children’s ears are still developing, making them more susceptible to damage from prolonged exposure to loud volumes. The iClever BTH20 much like the rest of their range addresses this worry with smart design choices like a built-in volume limiter that restricts the maximum output to 85 decibels (dB) which is honestly still plenty loud enough espeically due to their closed design and built in noise cancelling features.

Unlike the open design of the OWS01i these headphones actually block out a lot of outside noise. this can be great in some scenarios but does pose an additional risk especially while walking near roads, so if your looking for a safer way to entertain children while out walking the open design is a better choice here.

Sound Quality: Perfect for Playful Listening

While prioritising safety, the iClever BTH20 also delivers decent sound quality. with a emphasis on mids and highs, the distinct lack of bass is a little dissapointing here but its also understandable due to this products target audience, the sound translates well to children’s audio preferences. Podcasts, audiobooks, and even music with clear vocals and melodies come through clearly on these headphones.

The Active Noise Cancelling here is easy to access with its side button switching between off, low and high. If im honest I really didnt notice a ton of diffrence between the 3 modes. I feel like this is more a gimmick that a feature but on high did cut out a little more background noise like a car rolling along a road. One thing I wish would happen is it remembering my ANC preferences between listening. if you turn the headphones off and on again it will default to ANC off no matter the state you left it in. A minor annoyance but still worth mentioning.

With the ‘safety’ focus of these headphones I was suprised to see a lack of passthrough audio that has become common place on ANC headphones in this day and age. allowing you to hear audio and the outside world. This is something I would like to see on iClever products moving forwards for sure.

Fun Design

Let’s face it, practicality is essential when it comes to children’s gear. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! The iClever BTH20 comes in a variety of bright and colorful schemes, at first I found them to be a little too bright for my liking but honestly its colours really grew on me with its contrasting foam earcups and band colour. These playful options allow children to express their personalities and make their headphones feel like an extension of themselves.

Furthermore, the headphones boast a comfortable design too thanks to its easy to adjust head-strap catering for children and adults alike. so these headphones will definitely grow with your child.

The 3 control buttons on the right cup are easy to find and use without too much issue and have a nice tactile click to them, the accented colours are a nice touch too.

Durability and Battery Life: Built to Last

With children’s seemingly endless energy the potential for accidents and spills are high. Thankfully, the iClever BTH20 is built to withstand the occasional bump or splash. They boast an impressive IPX4 water resistance rating which even some adult offerings don’t have! meaning they can withstand sweat, light rain, or accidental splashes, the cups and band feel well built and could certainly withstand a beating and fold up small enough that they can easily be chucked in the provided bag.

The battery life is pretty outstanding here too. The headphones offer a remarkable 60 hours of playtime on a single charge while ANC is disabled. This is more than enough to keep even the most enthusiastic young listener entertained throughout a week, with plenty of battery life leftover. Additionally, the convenient USB-C charging ensures quick and easy recharging when needed without having to carry a mountain of different cables around.

Even when charging is required just 10 minuites can give you upto 5 hours of listening so even in a pinch these headphones can last a trip or 2.

Connectivity and Versatility: Perfect for All Kinds of Audio

The iClever BTH20 utilizes Bluetooth 5.4 technology, providing a stable and reliable connection to various devices. Whether your child wants to listen to music on a tablet, watch educational videos on a smartphone, or even play games, these headphones have them covered. The Bluetooth 5.4 technology ensures a smooth and uninterrupted listening experience, minimising any annoying audio lag.

Value for Money

One of the most attractive aspects of the iClever BTH20 is its price point. Coming in at a higher price of around £65 due to the ANC and other technologies, these headphones are potentially on the more expensive side especially with other manufactures creating similar sounding and feature rich devices for a fraction of this cost. That being said Parents can provide their children with a safe and enjoyable audio experience resting easy its protecting hearing and will be durable enough to grow with your child so this price is potentially a small one to pay for such piece of mind.

Conclusion

The iClever Kids BTH20 strike a nice balance between safety and functionality. With their built-in volume limiter, ANC, and comfortable fit, these headphones prioritize children’s well-being while still offering an engaging audio experience. The fun colors, durable build, and long battery life further enhance their appeal, though the lackluster ANC performance and higher price make this a tougher recommendation over the more budget friendly OWS01i.
