In a significant milestone for the tech giant, Apple has opened its first retail store in India, Apple BKC, situated in the heart of Mumbai’s bustling Bandra Kurla Complex. Set to open its doors on Tuesday, April 18th, the store is designed as a dynamic space where customers can discover Apple products and services, enjoy world-class service, and learn how to optimize their devices through free Today at Apple sessions.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Deirdre O’Brien, said that Apple BKC embodies Mumbai’s vibrant culture, bringing together the best of Apple in a stunning space that fosters connection, creativity, and community.
To mark this momentous occasion, Apple BKC is hosting a special Today at Apple series, “Mumbai Rising.” Running from the opening day through the summer, the series includes free hands-on sessions that unite visitors, local artists, and creatives, using Apple products and services to celebrate and showcase the local community and its culture.
Sessions in the “Mumbai Rising” series cover a variety of topics, including:
- Music Lab: Deep Listening in Urban Spaces with Sandunes

In line with Apple’s commitment to sustainability, Apple BKC is designed as one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations globally, relying exclusively on renewable energy sources with zero dependence on fossil fuels. The store’s operational carbon footprint is neutral, running on 100% renewable energy.
The architectural features of Apple BKC are nothing short of breathtaking. The store showcases a unique handcrafted timber ceiling that extends beyond the glass façade to the underside of the exterior canopy. Each of the 1,000 ceiling tiles is composed of 408 pieces of timber, with over 450,000 individual timber elements assembled in Delhi. Upon entering the store, customers are greeted by two stone walls sourced from Rajasthan and a 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase connecting the ground level and the cantilevered mezzanine.
Visitors can explore the surrounding display tables and avenues, showcasing the latest iPhone, Mac, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch, and Apple TV lineups, as well as accessories like AirTag. Apple BKC also offers Apple Pickup, making it even more convenient for customers to place orders online and pick up products when it suits them best.
The store boasts a diverse team of over 100 members who speak more than 20 languages, eagerly welcoming customers from around the world. These team members will provide valuable advice on the best options to suit customers’ needs, along with information on the Apple Trade-In program.
Apple has been operating in India for over 25 years, and with the opening of Apple BKC, the company continues to deepen its commitment to the community. Apple supports organizations like the Akanksha Foundation, Barefoot College International, and Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) as part of its long-term engagement with the community.
